The principle

Light before direction.

For screen work, a window to the side usually reduces the contrast of a bright window behind the monitor and reflections from a window behind you. For paper, light from the side opposite your writing hand can reduce hand shadows. These are starting points; window size, blinds and the actual sun position matter.

The feng shui perspective

A view of the entrance is often called a command position in feng shui. Here it is a secondary preference, after light. A wall-facing desk is not harmful by itself, and this check does not infer productivity or personal luck.

Limits and sources

Check the real room.

The desk is drawn in the middle of a template room to show seated orientation. This is not a measured placement or an ergonomic assessment. Check chair travel, power cables, monitor height and actual glare before moving it.
