The principle

Width is only half the check.

Remaining hall width = wall-to-wall width minus the storage depth on each occupied side. A door swings through an arc, so storage can fit the hall width yet still stop the door from opening. Both checks matter; passing one does not mean the other passes.

The feng shui perspective

An uncluttered entrance is a common feng shui preference. Its practical value here is simpler: room to enter, put things down and leave without obstacles. It does not promise an effect on money or opportunity.

Check the real room.

The door hinge is assumed to sit at the selected corner. The swing check uses a rectangular cabinet and a 90-degree door arc, with no handles, trim or installation tolerances. Your target is a planning preference, not an accessibility or building-code standard. Check local requirements and the actual clear opening.
